Historically, Google has used its damn-near-stock Nexus line of products to showcase what the latest snack-themed flavor of Android can do.
This strategy has successfully acclimated consumers, developers, and manufacturers to what the next chapter of the OS has to offer.
Surely, Mountain View would want to further boost its surging tablet market with a Nexus tablet optimized for all that KitKat brings to the table? Strangely, no—at least not yet.
When Google unveiled its second-generation Nexus 7 tablet in late August, it was optimized for the features of Android 4.3 (though the 7 has since become eligible for an upgrade to 4.4 KitKat, as has last year's Nexus 10).
