After Google's introduction of Android 4.4 KitKat, numerous manufacturers—including the Google-owned Motorola—laid out vague plans to introduce the updated OS on their devices.

Well, starting today, Motorola will bring KitKat to its flagship Moto X on Verizon, which, for the record, means it's getting the chocolatey update before Google's own Nexus 4.

The rollout will be coming in phases beginning today. Moto X users on all carriers can check out Motorola's software update page to see if/when their advice is open to the new upgrade. The company promises that they will have more news regarding KitKat-flavored Moto Xs on other carriers and countries "very soon."

There's still no official word on when KitKat for the budget Moto G will be available, but the company announced during that phone's unveiling that it came with a guarantee of an OS upgrade.
