When you're not taking snorkeling pics or reading Proust in the bathtub with your water-resistant slate, do you slop spaghetti sauce and raw beef juices all over it? If so, you're in luck! On Thursday, Sony introduced the foodie-friendly Xperia Tablet Z: Kitchen Edition.
Yes, for an extra $50 over the recommended price of the standard (yet remarkably polished) 32GB Xperia Z you can get Sony's kitchen bundle to help you slice, dice, and fillet your way to an awesome meal. The Kitchen Edition comes loaded with a number of foodie apps including BigOven, Evernote Food, Juicing Recipes, Food Planner Pro, iGrill Pro, and Out of Milk Shopping List. You also get an iGrill Bluetooth meat thermometer and a foldable tablet stand.
Sony says for $650 you get the tablet plus $115 worth of extra accessories and content.
Near as I can tell, however, the Kitchen Edition only comes with the aforementioned $80 wireless meat thermometer, a bunch of free apps, and the $3 Food Planner Pro. You can also buy a tablet stand on Amazon for less than $10. Still, an extra $93 value means you'll save about $43 if you're one of the dozens or maybe hundreds of kitchen cooks hankering for an iGrill, a stand, and a new tablet simultaneously.
