Paul Fisher, who was most recently CTO at social discovery startup (and TechCrunch Disrupt alum) Sonar, has joined Onswipe in the same role.
Onswipe works with publishers to optimize their websites for tablets and other touch devices. In June, it celebrated its two-year anniversary by announcing that it has served tablet content to more than 127 million iOS users.
Fisher, meanwhile, previously worked as CTO at K2 Media Labs, director of engineering as Lime Wire, and manager of technology at Wired.com. Onswipe co-founder and CEO Jason Baptiste told me Fisher’s job will be to lead the development of Onswipe #next, the next generation of the company’s publishing tools, which he expects to launch this quarter. (And yes, that’s a hashtag in the product name.)
“Joining Onswipe as CTO provides me with a unique opportunity at a company with tremendous scale to leverage my experience in publishing and marry it with my focus on data, scaling teams, massively distributed systems, and machine learning,” Fisher said via email. “The engineering challenge here is staggering: with Onswipe #next we are rethinking the future of publishing by building an entirely new breed of publishing platform that blends user experience, content personalization, and monetization into one tightly knit platform.”
The company says that its last CTO, Mark Bao, left at the end of 2012, taking time off to travel the world.
