Riding the wave of wearable technology Fitbit showed its new wristband activity tracker at an event in New York last week. The actual device isn't much larger than a wrist watch and telling the time is just the beginning.

As you'll see in this video report, the Fitbit Force can monitor how many steps you take, the distance you cover, the calories burned, the floors you climb, and how long you keep active. It also monitors your sleep, recording when you're awake and restless.

A companion app to the Fitbit Force displays the data captured by the wearable activity tracker.

Unveiled last month, the $130 Fitbit Force syncs with your smartphone via BlueTooth 4.0; a corresponding iOS or Android app tallies up all the data the wristband tracker records.
