When Motorola launched its very decent Moto X back in August, it came with a very unique feature among elite handsets: Customization.
But while the phone was available on multiple carriers in a pre-designed, stock version, only AT&T customers had access to design the look of their phone via the customizable Moto Maker site—until today. On Monday, Motorola announced that Moto Maker will now be available to customers of all four major US carriers.
The 16GB and 32GB versions are available (for $100 and $150 respectively) to existing customers or new customers signing a two-year contract on AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. Customers will also have an option to purchase the phone sans contract for $500 and $550. T-Mobile will only offer the phone with the unsubsidized, contract-free price plan.
Now everyone can sit at the Moto X cool table.
A few weeks ago Motorola slashed the price on the Moto X by $100 with a two-year contract. However, the Motorola blog post announcing the Moto Maker expansion says the cheaper price is "promotional" and "for a limited time." We have reached out to Motorola for details and will update as they come available.
