Whatever the moral and ethical considerations of using a social network designed to promote casual hook-ups with your friends and acquaintances, you can at least know you won't be skirting trademark laws the next time you and your lucky paramour decide to drop trou.
The company behind Bang With Friends—the website and mobile app that pretty much promises to help you do what it says on the label—sent out a statement Monday announcing that it had "reached an amicable resolution" of a trademark dispute with game maker Zynga. Earlier this summer, Zynga was not feeling particularly amorous toward an app that so closely mirrored its Words With Friends franchise or that appropriated its logo, and slapped Bang With Friends with a trademark infringement suit. Now it seems the two companies have hugged it out, though since terms of the settlement weren't disclosed, we can't say for certain if things went any further.

Zynga Inc. and Bang With Friends, Inc. are pleased that they have reached an amicable resolution of their dispute. Although the terms of the settlement are confidential, Bang With Friends, Inc. acknowledges the trademark rights that Zynga has in its WITH FRIENDS marks and will be changing its corporate name and rebranding its services in the near future.
