Pinterest wants to be more than a time-wasting source of pretty pictures, so it's making those pictures a little more informative.

Now when you pin an item, Pinterest will keep you updated on price drops. If you're decorating your home or buying new work clothes, Pinterest will tell you if your dream sofa or coveted shirt goes on sale.

No, you won't get an email every time the price changes (thankfully). Pinterest will group the price drops in a single email, and you'll see notifications when you sign in. Another plus: The site tells you how significant the price drop is. If you're waiting for a 50 percent reduction and the price fell only 20 percent, Pinterest will tell you.

Pinterest
Pinterest now alerts you when prices drop on pinned items.

Companies will love the new feature because the reminders might prompt you to purchase an item instead of simply filing it away as inspiration. Users will love it because who doesn't love getting a deal without having to constantly search for it? It's a win-win.
