Microsoft acknowledged on Tuesday afternoon that some users had problems signing in to Xbox Live services on their Xbox 360, Windows 8 PC, and Windows Phone, blocking them from video services and games in some cases.

Microsoft reported that Xbox accounts, the Marketplace, and multiplayer matchmaking were up and running. However, the company acknowledged problems with the Xbox services themselves, beginning at about 12:34 p.m. PT.

"For our members that are currently unable to sign in to their Xbox Live accounts, we're right here with you!" Microsoft said on its status blog. "We've got our team engaged and they are working hard to get everything back to normal as expediently as possible. You're being so patient while we're working, and we really appreciate you! We'll update you on our progress as soon as we have more information."

Microsoft said that the outage affected the Xbox, Xbox.com, as well as Games for Windows Live, Windows 8, and Windows Phone.
